We would like to share a few resources that you can use for planning your Distance Learning lessons from ILA. This blogpost provides a plethora of links to not only research articles, reading lists, and links to education companies that are offering free subscriptions and resources due to COVID-19. https://literacyworldwide.org/blog/literacy-daily/2020/03/16/engaging-learning-through-disruptions

Also, please check out all of the valuable resources and advice from First Book at https://firstbook.org/coronavirus-educator-resources/ and UNICEF’s Read the World at https://www.unicef.org/coronavirus/read-the-world

We would like to also share that Texas PBS and TEA are working in collaboration to provide At-Home Learning through educational programming collaboration. Teachers are encouraged to use TEKS-Aligned materials at www.PBSLearningMedia.org. We encourage you to set up an account and use these resources, remember we have TEKS for multi-modal texts now. Here is the link for more information on this partnership: https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/news-and-multimedia/news-releases/news-2020/tea-and-texas-pbs-announce-educational-programming-collaboration-0

TEA also has a parent-friendly, grade level digital and print resources to support at-home learning need. This is a great resource for both parents and teachers https://texashomelearning.org/

A few notable authors and illustrators have been doing a variety of things online and through social media, here are a few:
  • Ralph Fletcher “Writing with Ralph”
  • Jason Reynolds “Write. Right. Rite.”
  • Dav Pilkey “At Home”
  • Jarrett Krosoczka “Draw Every Day with JJK”
  • Kate Messner “Read, Wonder and Learn”
  • Debbie Ridpath Ohi “Picture Book Read Alouds”
Finally, for our members on Twitter, please check the hashtag #TALEOutsideTheBox for other ideas and resources.
Here is a Google Mix motivational videos in commemoration of Teacher Appreciation Week!
Thank you for being a member of this great organization!
