Texas Association for Literacy Education

Why Our Committee Work is Advocacy

The Texas Association for Literacy Education (TALE) is uniting all committee work under Advocacy because every action we take is a powerful effort to advance our mission: to promote literacy that will enhance the lives of all Texas citizens personally, socially, and economically.Advocacy is any activity that actively supports and champions a cause. For TALE, promoting literacy is the cause.
  • TAIR Emerging Leader Grants are Advocacy: By reviewing and awarding the TAIR Emerging Leader Grants, this committee is advocating for TALE’s future and the sustainability of literacy promotion across Texas. Investing in new literacy leaders directly ensures that the expertise, passion, and commitment needed to advance our mission and enhance Texans' lives personally, socially, and economically will continue.
  • Educator Empowerment is Advocacy: By equipping teachers with the best training, resources, and support, we are championing high-quality instruction in every classroom. This is a direct form of advocacy for students' personal and economic growth by ensuring they receive the essential literacy skills needed to succeed.
  • Community Involvement is Advocacy: When we engage with communities through initiatives, events, and partnerships, we are advocating for the social and personal importance of literacy outside the school walls. We raise awareness, build support, and actively demonstrate how literacy enhances lives socially—creating a more literate and engaged Texas citizenry.
