Texas Association for Literacy Education

Exemplary Reading Program Award

The Exemplary Reading Program Award is sponsored by the International Literacy
Association to recognize outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade
levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Its purpose is to call the public’s attention
to outstanding programs in schools throughout North America. Each participating state
and province can choose one winning school.

All public, private, charter, and parochial schools in the United States and Canada are
eligible for the award provided
  • The state or province in which the school is located has an Exemplary Reading
  • Program Award Committee currently in place to judge program applications from that state or province
  • At least one faculty or staff member of that school is a current ILA member

Literacy Strategy Spotlight

​Leading up to the November application deadline, the Community Involvement Committee will
share their favorite literacy practices to encourage the development and refinement of exemplary
reading and language arts programs.

​TALE Outstanding Literacy Program Award

Previously, TALE sponsored the Outstanding Literacy Program Award which recognized outstanding literacy and language arts programs at all grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school). Its purpose was to call the public’s attention to outstanding programs in schools throughout Texas. As the Texas state council of ILA, TALE will coordinate efforts to align with ILA’s Exemplary Reading Program Award.
