Community Involvement Literacy Projects
Research regarding the effects of family involvement on educational outcomes has shown that parental involvement makes a difference in children’s academic
achievement. The Community Involvement Committee is dedicated to promoting literacy across Texas through its community projects.
Growing Readers Book Project
Our Growing Readers Book Project provides crates of books at local
organizations for children and young adults who lack access to reading
materials along with a pamphlet for parents on the importance of literacy. The
literacy pamphlet includes information on how to pick books for their children,
a list of literacy links along with apps to utilize, plus reading tips and
strategies.
TALE Little Free Library
This project promotes literacy and a love of reading by providing a
Little Free Library in areas where children and young adults don’t have
access to books. By providing free books, the library can help develop
reading skills, as well as cultivate a lifetime reading habit.
TALE Book Drives
Our Committee organizes book drives to collect gently used books for our
literacy projects. TALE members and the community are encouraged to
participate in our book drives to help support literacy advancement in Texas.
