Community Involvement Partnerships
The Community Involvement Committee partnered with the Magdalena House in San Antonio with our Growing Readers Book Project and by presenting at their Parents’ Night.
Magdalena House is a transitional home in San Antonio that serves mothers and children who have fled dangerous and abusive lives by providing transformation through education, nurturing community, and programming.
With our Growing Readers Book Project, the Community Involvement Committee partnered with the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio by providing them with a crate of books along with parent literacy pamphlets.
The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio provides crucial medical services to more
than 150,000 children across Central and South Texas each year. The Center for Children and Families houses more than 40 outpatient clinics which serve more
than 88,000 children annually.
HEB generously donated 100 books to the 2016 Literacy Summit Book Drive sponsored by TALE and the University of the Incarnate Word. The books were given to Catholic Charities to sustain their various literacy projects that support refugee children.

The Community Involvement Committee is partnering with Catholic Charities to support the refugees who come to San Antonio by providing a TALE Free Lending Library at the Auburn Creek Apartment complex; giving the children and young adults easy access to books.
The TALE Free Lending Library was built by Robert LaFleur and the beautiful art work was painted by Gail LaFleur.
