TALE 2023 Elections
Do you have a desire to become more active in TALE? Consider joining our Board of
Directors! We are currently accepting nominations for 4 elected positions on TALE’s
Board of Directors. The voting process is entirely online and will take place in April. We
will send an email containing a link to the electronic ballot to TALE members who have
active membership status as of February 1, 2023. In order to ensure high levels of
participation during the election, we encourage you to make sure that your TALE
membership is current and that the email address we have on file is accurate.

✔ Current TALE members: Members - Texas Association for Literacy Education
TALE’s Board of Directors manages the business and affairs of the organization. We are
currently accepting nominations for the following 4 positions:
● TALE Chair-Elect (Elected Position): The Chair-Elect will serve a one-year
term (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024). The Chair-Elect coordinates internal
programs and engages in other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors. At
the end of the term, the Chair-Elect will move into the position of Chair and serve
a one-year term (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025), followed by a one-year term as
Past Chair (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).
● TALE Secretary (Elected Position): The secretary will serve a two-year term
(July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2025) and is responsible for attending all board meetings
and keeping notes on TALE Agendas during meetings, and sending out
correspondence via email to TALE Membership. The secretary will work closely
with the Chair and Executive committee members to prepare agendas and get
prepared for board meetings.
● TALE At-Large Director (2 Elected positions available): At-Large
Directors will serve a two-year term (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025). At-Large
Directors support the business and affairs of TALE as needed.
TALE’s Board of Directors meet virtually at designated times during the year, as well as
in person during TALE’s annual conference. TALE’s Board of Directors also participates
in an annual training provided by the International Literacy Association (ILA). Board
members are expected to attend at least 75% of all board meetings, by phone, virtually,
